Fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit PDF Print E-mail

"The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship (communion, koinonia) of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore. Amen." A most familiar benediction and prayer from 2Corinthians 13:14. This wonderful overview of the Blessed Trinity and their work of salvation on our behalf gives us assurance and boldness to continue the "good fight of faith" as we seek to further the kingdom of God in our church and world. "And I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord, and Giver of life, Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and Son is worshiped and glorified, Who spake by the prophets . . ." I am asking the Holy Spirit to help me fellowship with Him more, to understand Him better. I've realized that over many years I have given the Holy Spirit lip service during our wonderful liturgies, but have neglected fellowshipping with Him throughout the day, every day. This requires times of meditation on the scriptures, e.g. the gospel of St. John, chapters. 14-15-16, and praying in the Spirit during devotional times and throughout the day. I've allowed extremes in the body of Christ concerning the Holy Spirit and His manifestations to affect me in a negative manner. I have repented of my pride and fear and will continue to do so as the Holy Spirit reveals the darkness in my heart. So I have hope to grow in this amazing relationship because through the grace of our Lord Jesus, I have been redeemed declared righteous before God, the love of God has been poured forth into my heart and the One who stands along side of me also dwells within me. If God is for us who can be against us?
